Needing feedback about flying after single lung transplant
Just trying to get some feedback concerning flying after successful single lung transplant in 2022. Was supplemental oxygen needed while in flight in pressurized cabins with 5,000 – 8,000 altitude. Have not used any oxygen since transplant and lung transplant doctor advised I should have no need for supplemental oxygen in flight. I’m just trying to get actual single lung transplant people’s experience with flying. Thanks

Hello….my husband had a single lung transplant 6 years ago and since then we have flown domestically and internationally without any problems except that he seems to get very exhausted after the flights. Our most recent trip was to India which involved a 9 hour trip on one leg …no issues with breathing or anything . His pulmonary function tests have been fairly good and his doctors haven’t advised any oxygen for flying so far . Hope this helps .
