Since my diagnosis of IPF 8 years ago, my resilience to deal with difficult things has drastically increased. In a way, I’ve done a lot of self-improvement work to become resilient, and in another way, IPF forced this upon me; dealing with a life-threatening lung disease is hard at any age, especially as a young adult.

With that said, when someone I love is diagnosed with this same cruel disease, it shakes my resilience and leaves me feeling very emotional. This happened last week, and it’s thrown me back to the initial days following my diagnosis, knowing the person I love is probably going through those same feelings of confusion, anger, and sadness, to name a few.

As an IPF patient who knows the struggles of this disease, how do you feel when someone you know or love is diagnosed with it?

    What helps you cope?
