10mg is just 3 mg above the 7mg our own body produces.

For me, the additional 3mg is a very slight risk into any negatives.

My Wife had sarcoidosis from teen to age 49 when she died in 2003. It was discovered that she had little or no Immunigobulin G (IGG) which lines our nasal area among other membranes. So she suffered frequent pneumonias, bronchiectasis, sinus infections, and lung scarring all those years. Her lungs were scarred from all the pneumonias. Not sure if pulmonary fibrosis was officially pinpointed.

    Charlene,

Thanks for the tip re: sub-lingual loperamide aka Imodium. I’m gonna give it a try.

Yes, it can be in his head, but more likely those inhalations can be hard to coordinate when one has shortness of breath. There is a learning curve. Been there.

The PFT’s are tools for monitoring up’s and down’s such as progress or diminishing breathing. Failure to perform the tasks will not alter a diagnosis. So don’t worry. I’ve had a diagnosis of IPF for 5 years. Can’t do the PFT anymore. Now in hospice That’s my sad story.

Years ago I also watched my father fail to learn how to inhale his inhaler. Coordination needed with some more practice.

Thank you, Megan for painting this picture. I find it easy to put myself in it. My time will come, but unlike your Dad I had no problem with diapers. I wore them early on before imodium controlled the sudden onsets of diarrhea from the drug Ofev. Again, your narrative is very much appreciated. Cheers, Ed E.
