Short Bio

My mom died from IPF ten years ago. I get concerned when I cough a lot. I’ve had a mild cough since Nov. Read that a milder strain of coronavirus might have been through here at that time. My primary doc at Kaiser doesn’t want me to come or see a pulmonologist, get an xray or scan until after the surge sometime next 1-2 weeks. I got a stethoscope and my husband and I can hear the characteristic velcro-like fine crackles and some coarse crackles, in my lungs and not in his. I’m assuming I have it. I also have autoimmune psoriasis and tinitus and peripheral neuropathy, and had endometrial cancer, same as my mom with onset about 10 years younger. Since I cant get any tests now, I’m operating as if I have fibrotic tissue.  Looks like a lot of progress with trials and treatments to slow it down since my mom passed.

Type of Diagnosis

familial/genetic PF

Treatment / Medical Facility

Kaiser

Current medication regimen

Since Kaiser won't see me during the pandemic surge, I've self-medicating: I got a Infrared Sauna I use 3 x/ week and able to breathe oxygen since I bought a used concentrator for my mom, I have tried nebulizing sodium ascorbate and getting some H2O2 to nebulize follow that with vit C. Taking what I believe to be an immune balancing, not immune boosting regime of D3, C, mushrooms, silibinin, garlic, NAC and curcumin and waiting for delivery of stabilized sulforaphane derived from broccoli sprouts, fulvic acid, chelated magnesium, and ayurvedic herbs to be calm. I saw someone asked what others might know about nebulizing fulvic acid. Reading this paper https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6151376/ there seems like a value to reducing cytokines if I get COVD19

Supplemental Oxygen

yes

Best advice for PF symptom management

The pulmonogist that treated my mom for PF hastened her deterioration and death by recommending an antihistamine nebulizer for her cough. It triggered fibrillation which it says on the label is a risk side-effect. Therefore I do not trust just any pulmonologist to know anything about PF.
