Biography

Diagnosed w IPF in 2018 although there were indications of earlier CT’s of “ground glass” and scarring. Underwent a VATS procedure in May to remove 3 sections of my right lung, 2 lower lobe, 1 middle lobe. Organizing Pneumonitis was also identified at that time.
My breathing has become more labored even when using O2, I currently use 3 LPM of O2 and honestly it doesn’t always help improve my breathing.
I’ve been told I will require a double lung transplant but my pulmonologist doesn’t seem to share my urgency for my symptoms and feels we have “plenty of time” for that. I trust his medical judgement (the longer it is before I go on the list the less threatened my mortality in my mind) but I’m increasingly dissatisfied with the almost casual treatment processes to date.
I have a history of asbestos exposure and other environmental goodies between military service and WTC, thankfully I have never smoked. I am just beginning to look at forums and info exchanges like this one.
