Thanks for asking about my dad Steve. I had a conversation with my dad about a year ago that had a profound affect on me. I will try to not make this too lengthy.
When they passed out the parents, I struck gold! Mom and dad were always very supportive for me and my two brothers. My older brother is also a doctor. My younger brother is a p…[Read more]

Hi Bill,
I am all for a good sense of humor!!
I’m so sorry to hear about your condition. It sounds like you are managing quite well. My dad was on 10L as well and could barely do anything for himself, so you are doing great! Talking definitely winded him, so while you can make a joke about just moving the lips, unfortunately it is true. That…[Read more]

Hey Charlene – like your foodstuff. We have some ladies at my church make a cashew cheese (many recipes) it is pretty tasty. I have a couple of creaker recipes I need to try some one day. Nothing I see on the grocery shelves seems totally safe anymore…Steve

Hi Charlene,
I thank you for moderating this forum (At least that is my impression). When my dad was diagnosed there was so little information about personal experiences, and there still is. I was able to find some great information via this forum and site in general, so thank you again, and I am sorry that you are battling the disease as well. I…[Read more]

Watching this one. Something that helps me is ‘Bag Balm’ that I find in women’s makeup and beauty supplies. It is very thick to apply so takes some work. I put it on my hands because they crack and bleed and it usually works.

Hi Ray,
Thank you for your long response – yes I’m unfortunately aware of no late dinners and no chocolate! Also no peanut butter fudge! My GI doctor started me on Gaxalant and prescription-strength Zantac which seems to have helped. The only problem is that I take the Zantac at bedtime and if my stomach decides to give the old heave ho, t…[Read more]
