Short Bio

Like many people who get diagnosed with IPF I was shocked when diagnosed two years ago. I was lucky to get on a trial for OFEV which was successful and eliminated (at this time) the annoying cough that people and friends noticed. I have been lucky in I was diagnosed with the disease in the early stages,  which the doctors tell me is normally picked up 2-3 years into the disease. Discussion was on the loss of appetite, and over the past 2 years this has certainly turned me off going to a smorgasbord or “All You Can East”restaurant. Since finding out I have IPF I have suggested to my wife that we do as much traveling (resident of Australia)  as we can, and I am retiring this year from full time employment so hope I can cash some of these frequent flyer points in. So far I have been lucky with OFEV and while having minor bowel problems I can put up with it. We went to India 3 months ago and it was funny as I had less bowel problems there than I do in Australia. Anyway I am keen to learn more about this disease and  attended a seminar at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne a few weeks ago, which was very interesting. To all my fellow IPF patients all the best as you head into summer in the northern hemisphere, while we Down Under are bracing for cold wintery days ahead
