Just a quick update – I went through with the stem cell procedure last week. Spent 2 days at the lung institute in Dallas. The procedure was painless. Was told it will take about 2 weeks before any improvement can be noticed. I should point out that I have been doing well on the Esbriet treatment and my oxygen level has been fairly constant. A small reduction in lung capacity over 2 years. Consider myself very lucky so far. Did the stem cell procedure to see if the treatment could possibly “arrest” the progression of the disease. Was told by the Institute it would take at least 2-3 months before any results could be measured. Will go through the same process again in Aug. Will keep y’all posted to see how this journey progresses.

    • Hi @runewh, this is so good to know, thank you so much for sharing. I remember you saying you were going to look into it but I didn’t know you were going ahead with it. Glad to hear it was painless, and I’m curious to hear if you notice any improvement. Will you share with us in terms of how you are feeling and if you feel any noticeable difference? I know you mentioned it can take a few months before any measurable results could be made, but hopefully you’ll feel a bit of a difference as well. Thanks again for sharing with us, and I look forward to keeping in touch around the stem cell procedures/process for IPF treatment. Best wishes to you!

      Warm regards,
      Charlene.

    • Embarrashed that I have not followed up on this treatment. I did not notice any difference after going through with this treatment. My oxygen level is about the same sitting still, but getting out of breath faster than 5 years years ago. Consider myself lucky that I am still able to get out of bed in the morning and can take care of myself.
