Biography

My father died in 2003 of congestive heart failure related to his IPF. My brother died in 2018 of lung transplant rejection, two years after the transplant. I had very mild ILD for many years – at least since 2004 – and it was under control until a severe aspiration pneumonia after surgery in late 2016. My ILD progressed since then. For a little over a year I’ve been using a POC for any significant exertion and for flying. I had a lung biopsy three months ago that diagnosed me with UIP, emphysema (my mother and her mother had it), and organizing pneumonia: a triple-whammy with two apparently familial. I started taking Esbriet in April 2019 and am at maximal dose.
