Gregory Dixon replied to the topic EGCG Green Tea Extract in the forum Clinical Trials 1 year, 7 months ago

Dave, thanks for your post. I’m doing much the same as you regarding the EGCg. I take 4 capsules of Teavigo by Healthy Origins each morning on an empty stomach. Though the study in the NEJM was conducted over a 14 day period, I have continued this dosage over a 5 month period. Have discussed this with my internist and two pulmonologist eliciting…[Read more]

I recommend that you read Bottle of Lies by Katherine Eban. It is a thoroughly researched volume on the generic drug industry with particular emphasis on India and China.

Hello Charlene…..I am eager to hear from Dr. Chapman had to say. Does he concered about those of us jumping into an egcg regimen? Does he have guidance about how long one might continue the regimen? Does he recommend taking the 600 mg dose all at once on an empty stomach?  These are just a few that come to mind.

Thanks John, for this useful post. I’m taking 600 mg of EGCg every morning as soon as I awaken. Another article in the forum emphasized bioavailability and noted that EGCg was compromised if taken with food. Did you see that study?  Catherine…please ask Dr. Chapman about that.  Also glad to know about the measures of inflammation. I will pay a…[Read more]

I just began taing Ofev three weeks ago and so far have not had diarrhea or other gastrointestinal issues. I do drink a lot of milk but usually it is the A2 variety that researchers say is easier to digest. Perhaps that is a good choice with Ofev.

I find it extraordinary that the NEJM would publish this long letter about a short study of a supplement drug. I  suppose the results, after a mere 14 days of treatment,  were so extraordinary, that they wanted to get the word out. I ordered some easily on Amazon and started taking it last week.

    Randy,

Are you on Medicare? If so, Medicare civers about 80% of the cost, just under $10,000 per month. Someone from Open Doors referred me to the HealthWell Foundation. In one phone call, they approved a $9000 grant to me (for a year). Miraculously, the remainder of my copay disappeared and I pay nothing for my Ofev, which I started last week.…[Read more]

A cautionary tale can be found in a book by Katherine Eban entitled “Bottle of Lies” about generic drugs manufactured in other countries,  especially India.
