Short Bio | Reasonably active, happily retired, single; living independently in the rural Northern Neck of Virginia. Currently (July 2019) active as Training Officer in local Volunteer Rescue Squad (member since 2003) but no longer responding to Emergency calls. I continue to serve my industry as a consultant, actively teach and support my Church in various capacities, and perform essential groundskeeping at home, with occasional assistance as needed. |
Type of Diagnosis | IPF |
Treatment / Medical Facility | Biopsy performed May 2018 confirming IPF diagnosis. |

Best advice for PF symptom management | In my experience, we are our own most effective advocates, given the rarity of IPF. Oxygen desaturation is frequently missed by General Practitioners and Specialists who screen on the basis of “at rest” protocols. I would strongly advise regular patient use of a pulse oximeter, to measure effects of exertion and to assist in the process of diagnosis and management.
