30year smoker. Quit 30 years ago. Took up woodworking for a hobby. Bad choice but I loved it. 2009 had open heart surgery with a PE during recovery. I blamed SOB on the PE. It got progressively worse. Nobody seemed to know what it was caused by. Finally referred to a pulmonologist. Did the six minute walk but no diagnosis. One months later returned for another 6 minute test. UH OH. CT scan nailed it. What the hell is IPF? Who knew? OFEV disapproved by my insurer. Started Esbriet last week. Siri and my wife demand 5000 steps a day. I walk with a POC and sleep with 2L oxygen. I dread the idea of living my life tied to a 25foot umbilical cord.
