Biography

Hi Everyone,

I have asthma since the age of 9 months.   I had many bouts of pneumonia as a child and was treated with sulphur drugs as there were no antibiotics.   At 33 yrs. I suffered from asthma staticus and almost died.   Started using the new drug at the time which was ventolin.   Struggled throughout my life trying different inhalers.   Coughed constantly all my life.   3 years ago, despite having strong bones, I fell awkwardly and broke my hip.   An assessment at the hospital prior to the hip operation revealed that I had advanced lung disease: i.e. Pulmonary Fibrosis, Bronchiectasis, and asthma.   Really struggled with the breathing and went on to Symbicort and Ventolin.   16 months ago diagnosed with ventricular tachydardia.   My lung disease has caused serious heart complications.   Now I cannot lie on my back or I would pass out.   Sleeping is so difficult, choking, coughing etc.   In the last few months have had to accept going on 10 mg. cortisone which at least enables me to lie down and get some sleep.   I really sympathize with people suffering from lung disease.   I know it is terminal but that does not worry me.  Just take one day at a time.
