Hi All: I just joined this group. I was diagnosed with ILD in April, 2017. Based on PFT AND CAT Scan, they did not treat me-just observed for a year. Treated for latent TB with INH for six months. In June 2018, I went Yellowstone and became breathless at 7,000+ feet and landed up in the Cody Hospital emergency. Back in Baltimore based on second scan and deteriorated lung function, doctor started with Prednisone 60 mg/ day diagnosing my condition as Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia. When Prednisone did not work along with immunosuppressant s Mycophenolate and Cyclophosphamide after almost 12 months and gradual deterioration of lung function, doctor started on Ofev 150 Mg X 2 since August calling my condition IPF or ILD with PF—whatever! I would like to know how long does it take Ofev to start showing results. Any insights? Thanks.

    • Hello Prabir, the ofev will not improve your lung function it may be able to slow the progression of the disease. I’m sorry you are having to go through the delayed diagnosis. The reason they prescribed the steroid and cellcept was they thought you had inflammation in your lungs. These two medicines are prescribed for this reason. Inflammation occurs in patients who are diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. It appears the doctors then changed their diagnosis to ipf and therefore prescribed ofev. I hope this helps. I am not a doctor but am only going from my experience and my readings.

      • Mark: You are absolutely correct. Thanks for your help. I am hoping Ofev will slow down the fibrosis process. Also looking for new drug trials.

        • Hello Prabir, on the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation website there is a page you can access that details all of the current trials in process. Mark
