Hello Charlene,
I am suffering with IPF since 2016. I am a Christian, and my Hope is in God and God alone. I do take my medication (pirfenidone) and have oxygen carrier. I pray everyday and cling on to hope that nothing is impossible to God and he can heal me. This gives me hope and a desire to carry on.

I am on Esbriet (Pirfenidone) for the last 3 years. so far I don’t have any side-effects. The problem I am encountering is my cough is getting very bad these days.
In the night when I turn from one side to another I cough a lot and that wakes me up. Breathlessness is another issue these days, especially when I walk up and down the stairs. My O2…[Read more] -

I am thankful to God that so far I have not had any trouble since I started taking it except dry skin during summer and occasional rash when some medication don’t agree with it. Dry skin is the only bad reaction to it so far. christeen

Hello Christeen, pre-transplant I avoided stairs like the plague. Hopefully your cough is being caused by some inflammation and not a decline in lung function. I encountered similar symptoms pre-transplant. As soon as stood up from a chair my heart rate erupted into the 130s. I would increase my o2 another level to avoid decreasing 02 sats.
