| Best advice for PF symptom management | Dr should explain 1. What your diagnosis is 2. What is the best way to treat this illness and its complications 3. What are my alternatives 4.Lack of O2 is a concern as the disease progresses. MAKE your Dr answer your questions and not provide you with the necessary questions. If he doesn’t run away to a Dr who specializes in ILD, IPF. Make sure your Drs lack of familiarity with this disease doesn’t result in your living with the disease being more difficult. For me, the need for Oxygen is a perfect example. Shortness of breath and low o2 saturation results in lung, heart, pain, dizziness, slight confusion and many other symptoms. I pushed and pushed to reach a low o2 sat of 88%, got O2 script, and now I am no longer immobilized, able to recover from exertion and am more mobile being able to travel with O2 and keep o2 up. If you feel you would be better with supplementary O2 be your own advocate, don’t automatically live within confines set by your Dr. Continue to push hard for what is best for your quality of life., it’s your end of life…insist on living it to your fullest |
