Kenneth Corsette started the topic Too much oxygen in the forum Diagnosis Information and General Questions 4 years, 3 months ago

Has any one been told that too much oxygen can be harmful? When I am sitting I don’t need oxygen but when I start moving around my level drops below 90% in a short time so I bought a home unit thinking I could just use it all the time and avoid the need to wire myself up, as I call it, when I start doing something. I was told that too much oxygen…[Read more]

Kenneth Corsette replied to the topic Flying with IPF in the forum Diagnosis Information and General Questions 4 years, 3 months ago

Hello all, This may not be useful to all but I was diagnosed with IPF in Jan 2016. In 2017 my wife made a trip to Brisbane Australia when my FVC was 75%. We flew from LA to Brisbane, a 13+ hour flight. I have a POC with a 9 hour battery at 2l. I would use it for awhile, turn it down to 1l, then turn it off for a while. we made it to Brisbane with…[Read more]

Kenneth Corsette replied to the topic Starting Ofev in the forum Ofev (Nintedanib) 4 years, 6 months ago

I was diagnosed in Jan 2016 and started on IFEV  in July of this year after a lung function test showed I had declined 13% since the last one. The doctor suggested IFEV because the wife and I spend 3 months in Yuma Az every winter and Esbrite had a warning about being in the sun. I have not had any side affects so far. As to it helping I will…[Read more]

Yes, i WAS PUT ON OXYGEN RIGHT AT THE FIRST. 2 L BUT ONLY FOR exertion which the doctor said was anytime I was not sitting down. I cheat a little and do not use in in the house which may be the wrong thing to do but it’s a lot less hassle. I am sure that that will change down the line but for now it’s wonderful.

Hi Kenneth, thanks so much for getting back to me. Glad you have been put on oxygen if it helps you a bit, even if it is just for exertion. I also cheat a bit and prefer not to wear it sometimes when I know I should… you’re totally right about the hassle! 😉

Hope you continue to do as well as possible and thanks for re-connecting.

Hello Charlene, I haven’t joined the forum before because of my problem with spelling. I was told I had IPF in Jan 2016. Went on OFEV this July. So far have not had any side effects.

Hi @kcorsette2, not to worry about that at all – the best of us aren’t great spellers! 😉
This message was great, you did an awesome job! Sorry to hear of your IPF diagnosis in 2016… I remember that time well, my own diagnosis was in April 2016. Do you use oxygen currently? I’m really glad to hear the OFEV isn’t causing you any side effects, it…[Read more]
