Hi Sharlene: You mentioned essential oils and vaseline use on cannulas. That they are not necessarily good for this use because they aren’t sterile and can cause problems. This is new information to me. Thank you for mentioning it. I’ll be going to visit my sister in Florida later this month and hope the climate and air there won’t be a problem. I’ve been feeling so good the past week or so that I hope it continues during and after my trip. Maybe it has something to do with my exercises twice a week. You asked earlier if the bone strengthening exercises are part of pulmonary rehab. No, they’re just regular exercises for those who find aerobics and other strenuous exercises too difficult to do and are offered at our retirement village. I’ll be in touch again after my trip. Hope you’re doing well in the meantime. Lesley

    • Hi Lesley,

Thanks so much for your note. Yes, I had to do some research about essential oil use on the plastic of our oxygen cannulas as well, I didn’t know if it was safe for not. Since the oils everyone should be using are pure oil and therapeutic grade, they have the ability to disintegrate plastic. I often put a drop of certain essential oils (DoTerra only) in my water as well to make them more refreshing and it turns out they should only be used in glass water bottles as well, not plastic. In terms of vaseline, I haven’t looked this up myself yet but I have heard it can be potentially flammable when used with oxygen tubing so I’ve just avoided it. I’ll see if I can find it though!

I hope you have a wonderful visit in Florida with your sister and that the air isn’t too humid for you! Soak up some vitamin D for me from the warm sun. I had a specialist appointment this week and my vitamin D is “critically low”, although we aren’t sure why. I think I’ll make a post about it…. the Doctor gave me a prescription dose of vitamin D because she said just a normal supplement isn’t sufficient enough. I asked if she could just send me on a free vacation and she laughed 😉

Thanks for sharing about your exercises, I am sure this is so good for your body! Take care and have a wonderful time away 🙂

      Sincerely,
      Charlene
