Short Bio | I am a 63 year old wife, mother, grandmother and more who was diagnosed with mild IPF Jan 2021. I know all too well what this means, as my father died from PF as well as my 2 older sisters. My remaining 2 sisters and I have differing diagnosis of PF as well as several of our nieces and nephews. We have found that many of us have the PARN defect and Short Telomere Syndrome that can lead to PF, liver disease and bone marrow failure. I am trying to live my best life and have a strong faith that God is in control. One of my dear friends said something that has inspired me, and I share in hopes that it inspires others as well. “…as you carry this cross that will ultimately lead back to God know you are in my prayers…” |
Type of Diagnosis | familial/genetic PF |
Treatment / Medical Facility | Illinois Lung & Critical Care Institute – Peoria, IL |

Best advice for PF symptom management | I have learned years ago while suffering from Fibromyalgia that stress and worry causes flare ups of symptoms and have found the same to be true with IPF. I try to center my heart and mind with God first thing every day, then try to relax and remember to take deep breaths throughout the day. I also try to walk or do some sort of exercise daily and spend time with grandkids and my garden and finish the day off with a good night’s sleep. Easier said than done most days, but it’s my goal. |
