He’s been working with a pulmonologist for years now. He’s doing well and is steady on his medication (Esbriet). He’s been taking the meds for several years. We’ve noticed weight loss and more recently, the brain fog symptoms.

Thank you, Charlene! I will keep you updated. I’m actually about to call and schedule an appointment with his PCP to go over his test results.

Hi Jess @mrzjonz77, thank you so much for writing back and I hope that call went well. Were you able to get an appointment with your Dad’s PCP? Please let me know how it goes and hopefully the PCP refers him to a lung specialist/pulmonologist if he is unfamiliar with this disease. Hang in there and continue being an advocate for him 🙂
Charlene.

Oh right, I remember you were most concerned about the brain fog/cognition struggles your Dad was having. Sorry my memory escaped me on that, ironically enough. Has anyone been able to provide you some helpful answers at all Jess? Thinking of you and your Dad.

Good morning! Just waiting for the results of my Dad’s neuropsychological testing. My Dad was diagnosed with IPF about 8 years ago and has been on an Esbriet regimen since then. Around March 2019, we noticed the start of some cognitive decline and recently, it’s gotten worse. I’m attempting to research the correlation between memory issues and…[Read more]

Hi Jess,
Thanks for getting in touch with us, though sorry to hear of this latest struggle your Dad is experiencing. That sounds so tough and you’re right, waiting is definitely the hardest part! Hope the testing reveals some positive answers for you and your Dad. Yes, the correlation between IPF and Brain Fog is very real unfortunately, due to…[Read more]

Thank you, Mark! I am eager to learn more about IPF. We’re going through a lot with my Father right now, and it seems waiting for answers is the hardest part. I’m just trying to figure out if there is any correlation between his memory loss and his IPF.

Hello Jess, I googled what you asked about memory loss and IPF. There are many studies out there stating there is a correlation. I would bring this to your fathers doctors attention. There are some brain exercises a doctor could suggest or maybe do a little research. I don’t know if these exercises will bring all of his memory back but it will b…[Read more]
