I managed to go to the lake last year for a couple of days with my son and his family. Fortunately, they have a very nice camper with a good generator, so I could take my home oxygen with me.
The one thing extra I bought was called an Oxyfloat. It’s really a simple item, just a light weight foam, kind of like what those floating tubes are made…[Read more]

Rhonda Kramer replied to the topic Vaccinated PF people and COVID 19 in the forum Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Pulmonary Fibrosis 2 months ago
I have IPF and received two vaccinations and one booster. My Dr., my Pulmonologist, my Pharmacist ALL recommended both vaccines and the booster. Every one of them.
I did get Covid in November 2022; I went to the one place you cannot wear a mask-the dentist. Anyway, not placing blame here, just sharing my experience.
I got mighty sick with Covid.…[Read more]

I’ve been on the OxyGo for what feels like forever. Sometimes I have to remind myself that instead of feeling sorry for me for lugging oxygen everywhere I go, I need to be grateful. It wasn’t that many years ago that tanks were our only option. I was fortunate enough to only need 2 liters for the first 9 years since my diagnosis, but I had Covid…[Read more]

Rhonda Kramer replied to the topic Bird fancier’s lung in the forum Join the Discussion: Welcome to all PF/IPF Patients 3 months, 2 weeks ago
I personally have not been dx’d with bird fanciers lung, but I have a friend who was. They had an aviary in their home, and she became very ill and was on oxygen when she was dx’d. They did rehome the birds, some of which were exotics they had had for many years, but two years later she is back at work with no supplemental oxygen.
Best wishes for…[Read more]

In the meantime, if you income has been affected (mine sure was, I could no longer work) you may qualify for Medicaid, depending on your assets, etc. Also, the medical company that I have for…[Read more]

Rhonda Kramer replied to the topic Deep Tissue (or red light) Laser Therapy in the forum Using Our Forums 4 months, 1 week ago
Interesting. I’ve been using red light therapy for years, but of course, not the medical grade laser. However, my neurologist was facing carpal tunnel surgery until his friend, a chiropractor, lent him his laser, which did break up the tightness and my neurologist was able to avoid the surgery. I asked him about using it for my lungs, so he…[Read more]

Rhonda Kramer replied to the topic Household Chores & IPF! in the forum Diagnosis Information and General Questions 1 year, 3 months ago
I so agree on the difficulty of household chores, so I’ve turned to technology to help me out. I have an iRobot vaccuum, and then this year purchased the mop. Such life savers these are. I have pets, so have to vac daily & mop weekly. These two devices have become must haves for me.
I also try so hard not to use any sprays except some hydrogen…[Read more]
