Short Bio

I don’t really know what to say? My 74 year old mother and I have been taking care of my 75 year old father who is slowly dying from IPF and pulmonary hypertension. I came to this site to seek out some advice and comfort by connecting with others who have experience in providing care for a parent or loved one with IPF, because I really don’t know what to do? I know that it’s common towards the end of life that people become resistant and reclusive and hateful, but I don’t know why he’s refusing to wear his oxygen tube, he won’t take his medication and is actively and intentionally killing himself more and more and it’s just breaking our hearts to watch him self destruct. We want to help him but he won’t let us get near him. When he goes to use the bathroom and leaves his O2 mask off his oxygen drops like a rock and he passes out and falls. He’s fallen and busted his head head really hard a few times, and thankfully the doctors said that he didn’t suffer any serious injuries to his already fragile body. He would be doing so much better if he would just keep his air tube on. He’s purposely putting himself into an irreversible vegetive state by depriving his brain of O2 and destroying his brain cells. I just want to talk to anyone who can relate to what I’m dealing with, and how they are getting by, Thanks in advance for any advice
