My 74 year old husband had a kidney transplant 8 years age. 3 years ago he was found to have cancer in one of his native kidneys. (They leave them in for some reason). He had surgery to remove that kidney. So about this time he was diagnosed with PF. Things were pretty normal until about 6 months ago and things have just gone downhill ever since. He has been rejected for a transplant at 4 major hospitals. They say he needs to be cancer free for 5 years. He also doesn’t qualify for clinical trials for the same reason. Last week we were away from home and his health just plummeted. He doesn’t want to eat, can’t walk more than 5 feet, is always cold, extremely fatigued, and is on constant oxygen. His doctor pretty much told us there is nothing she can do for him. And on top of that he has some mystery pain on both sides of his back; no known cause so he’s in pain all the time. Does any of this sound like end of life symptoms? I feel like I’m in some weird limbo and don’t know what to expect next.
