Short Bio

Hi,

My husband was diagnosed with IPF in March, 2020.  A chronic cough (over 6 months) led to the diagnosis.  My husband is 72 years old. He is on 9 lpm O2 24/7 ( this was a big jump from 4 in the last 2 months), cannot walk more than 20 feet without having to stop, is not eligible for a transplant and is not on any medication for the IPF.  He currently sleeps in a recliner because laying flat is too difficult.  He has to stop and rest 5 to 10 minutes in between any activity whether it be getting up to go to the bathroom, walking in from the car or just fixing his morning coffee.  He sleeps about 75% of the day even though he tries to work one to two days a week.  The condition is exasperated by chronic sinus drainage. Most recently he has been having difficulties with constipation.  At our last doctors appointment his FVC value went from 47 in December 2021 to 35 in April.  We are schedule to meet with his pulmonologist in July for another breathing test. I have done what I can to help him, but he resists every suggestion.  He does all the research himself and says he knows what to do.  I feel with the most recent decline that his life expectancy is now somewhere between 6 and 12 months. My husband is in complete denial about this disease.
