I have just become a new member. I hope I can help other members and also I can get help for myself at the same time. My problem is that there are no pulmonologists near where I live and really am too old to make the five-hour trip to the nearest city. I had high-resolution CAT scan and the results given me by a technician. But obviously, I need a pulmonologist to see the CAT scan video. An internist suggested I take pirfenidone. But the price here is prohibitive. There is no way I could afford it and the health insurance will also not pay for it. After a lot of research, I found I can get them in India for $0.25 cents a 200mg tablet. I simply ordered them online and paid them by Western Union. They were sent ems and arrived within a week.

    • Hi @tarzan (Tony),

Thanks for joining the PF forums and welcome again! This is such a wonderful group of people here, so welcoming and supportive. I hope you find it helpful and I have no doubt that sharing our experience will help others too! The information on how you obtain Esbriet, when you’re right, the cost can be so prohibitive to others, will already be of interest to some folks I am sure. Glad you shared that information! Are you able to connect with a pulmonologist online anywhere, or through a centre of excellence? The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation has a list of centres too if you’re interested. You may have already checked there though, which might be how you know the closest facility is 5-hours away. Glad you’re able to start on the anti-fibrotic drugs Tony, and feel free to write us any time about additional questions or concerns. We’ll do out best to help you!

      Warm regards,
