Stem Cell Treatments to battle IPF

I had stem cell therapy from a company based in both Tampa and LA. I had it before my transplant and I believe it kept me alive until I could receive my new lungs. Let me know if you would like more info.

Hi: I am new to posting here, however,I have been following them for about a year. I had stem cell therapy about one year ago by a very well respected medical doctor. To date, there has been no recognizable signs of anything. My doctor has been following up with blood tests and prescriptions, etc. and is perplexed at the inactivity. I have been on oxygen 24/7 now for several months and just started on pirfinadone relunctantly. I also started on acupuncture recently and I believe it does offer some hope. My acupuncturist, a doctor also certified in chinese medicine, is very well versed in it and does tests and scans beyond the acupuncture. So, I am still maintaining hope in both the stem cell and the acupuncture procedures. I also have a Rife machine which I use from time to time,. I also take various supplements and enzymes for which I maintain hope in helping in the overall picture.

How old are you and what was the process to get a lung transplant ? I’m a 77 yr old man and live in Southern California with my wife and with our grown sons and grandkids in town. I was diagnosed with IPF in April 2020 . Pulmonologist wants me to take OFEV. My IPF is service connected so no expense . Please share your journey to a lung transplant and how you feel today . Thank you

My name is Ric Hansen. I spent 20 years in the Air Force with a tour in Vietnam and spent many years on the flightline inhaling jet fuel fumes. I applied for disability with VA for the IPF and was denied. I gave them my doctor’s evaluation to backup my claim but denied anyways. What did you submit to get it. It is an outpatient procedure, about four hours. In the fall of 2019, I had stem cell, and after about three weeks I started to notice a change, and after sixteen weeks, I was noticing bigger changes. I really didn’t want a transplant. In January of 2020, I probably got Covid and I went downhill fast. I attribute the stem cell for helping me stay alive until I got my double lung transplant. And I attribute the stem cell for my fast recovery after I received my transplant.

I can understand how much an effective stem cell therapy would be to the PF community. At the same time there are some people who market promises of spectacular results with very little or no scientific support.

Ask you care team about stem cell therapies and you might also ask, if you are considering a lung transplant, if receiving stem cell therapies would negatively impact your consideration for a lung transplant.

I had a consultation with a Stem cell center in Cabo, Mexico. They were very honest with me and said they haven’t had very good results treating IPF with stem cells. I did harvest my own many years ago, so I treat myself with my own twice a year. I cough violently for 1-2 days afterwards.
