Jascayd pricing and insurance coverage
Posted by chuckgalloway on January 16, 2026 at 2:29 pmWhat is the pricing of Jascayd and does any insurance cover it? I have United Healthcare Medicare Advantage and it currently does not cover it.

Hi Chuck,
The cost of Jascayd is not something I have been able to verify. In my column linked below, I wrote about patient assistance programs. There is a link to the programs that can assist with Jascayd.

The cost of Jascayd with no assistance is 16000 and change. My ins denied me twice so I’m just on Ofev. There is a program out there, careconnect4me, that may help you. They wanted to send me the drug for free and they did, I did not open it because my dr wanted me to wait and see what my ins was going to do, I don’t think he wanted me to start and then have to start because the cost is so high, I can’t do this without ins. Good luck.

This is a mess, almost no insurance covers it, these drug companies keep asking and asking for trial participants, and this is how they repay us? At least they should have a special program for those who participated in one of their trials.

My UHC part D covers it. January was about $2k but now my deductible is met for the year. You have to have your doctor submit for approval.

Hi Chuck, Medicare, in 2026, has an out-of-pocket cost capped at $2100.00. That’s only a few days of Jascayd. The key is it must be a covered drug. I have Aetna Medicare Supplement and they list it as an approved drug and I have a 10% co-pay. Since Aetna approved the drug, it will allow me to take advantage of the $2100.00 out of pocket.
Ask your pulmonologists office to handle the paperwork for Humana (but guessing it was probably already done by others).
Jascayd promotes 3 different groups that may help with co-pay assistance/.

I have medicare Part D. My 2025 Part D insurer took several drugs I take off of their Part D Formulary and also denied my claim for Jascayd. Before, I even knew of the denial, I had already switched providers for 2026. My new 2026 Part D provider Humana Premier RX, even though not on their formulary, does cover it, and did so with no fuss. Humana will be paying for both Jascayd and Ofev. In direct answer to your question, as someone else mentioned, Jascayd costs around $16k a month, but I doubt that is what someone would have to pay without coverage and with the help programs provided by the manufacturer such as Careconnect. Pray you can get and tolerate it.

I just got my first month’s supply, but have not started due to recent surgery. Originally, my part D provider, Wellcare, quoted $1000/months.copay, but I now get it from the VA for no cost as I am 100 percent disabled. It is not on the VA’s “formulary”, but your doctor can argue your case and-override this.
-
Julian, I am also a 100% disabled veteran and I’m getting Ofev from the VA. I was wondering if you take Jascayd by itself or did you get the VA to combine it with Ofev or Esbriet? Did your VA pulmonologist order it for you? I would like to drop my 150mg Ofev to 100mg and combine it with the Jascayd.
-
Hi, like yourself I’m also a 100% disabled vet, may I ask what VA you got your Jascayd prescription from ? What’s driving this question is myVA location claims the VA currently doesn’t offer it, I would like to pursue this matter with the pharmacy through my pulmonologist.

I’m sort of confused by what has happened to you. I also have Wellcare and with the maximum out-of-pocket of $2100 through the drug plan part D, I go into catastrophic with the first prescription of Ofev in January. There are no co-pays for this drug after the $2100 deductible.
How did WellCare figure you would owe $1000 a month as a co-pay for this new drug? Or did you just mean the first two months and then you pay nothing after that?

I began taking Jascayd one week ago after my doctor got it approved directly from the pharmaceutical and using Medicare plus Aetna supplemental ins. For the first three days, I had nausea and headaches. Now I’m tolerating it fine. I have stopped taking pirfenidone per doctors advice. I’m in the advanced stage of IPF with only about 20% lung left. Too soon to know if the Jascayd will make a difference, but the doctors attitude is like one more last ditch effort. Living each day with gratitude and getting affairs in order. Peace and tranquility, and Happy New Year.

Fortunately, VA covers it of I think my cost would $2100 monthly…
Stay well…

Our Medicare Supplement United covers our cost after our initial deductible of $2100. My pharmacist told me the cash price would have been $19,500 a month for Jascayd. When I was previously on OFEV, I was told the monthly cash price would have been $15,00/month. My side effects dropped drastically on Jascayd compared to OFEV, plus my recent PFT was a little worse on OFEV, but my pulmonologist is very optimistic in Jascayd doing a better job. We will see.

Does anyone have experience with Kaiser Permante regarding Jascayd pricing?

I am taking Jascayd 9mg as well as OFEV 150mg concurrently, 2X per day. No adverse side effects. I have a moderate grant from a healthcare foundation that covers the max out-of-pocket and the first refill of the year puts me into catastrophic coverage so my drug costs for the year is nil. My Part-D insurer is HealthSpring (formerly Cigna).
