Short Bio
  1. I was diagnosed in 2019 but had catscan evidence noted by a radiologist 10 years before that that wasn’t picked up by my med/surg team.  They were ruling out a postop pulmonary embolism to explain my hypoxia.  I started noticing shortness of breath with exertion about 5 years later.  My new primary care doc started me on an inhaler that seemed to help. My SOB was getting worse a year later, so the temporary improvement was probably placebo effect.  I saw my PC again to see about an actual asthma medication, but she thought I should see a pulmonologist first.  Good call!  One HRCT and PFT and I joined the club.  My sister joined the club more recently so it is now Familial IPF, but that doesn’t change treatment or prognosis.
