Short Bio

My husband was diagnosed after a 41 year career as a high school teacher who only used his sick days for grading papers. We were shocked by his diagnosis. Steve decided he did not want to tell people about his disease, even the family. He was in denial all the way through and we were luck his Esbreiet kept him stable for 5 years. My big warning for all the IPF community is pay close attention to those oxygen needs. Once they start increasing into the range of 6 liters get in to see the transplant team. It was too late for us. We were going through the lung transplant process when he experienced catastrophic respiratory failure. Although he was close to going on the list, he caught a common cold (rhinovirus) that he could not fight off.
