Short Bio

About six years ago, I was diagnosed with non-specific interstitial pneumonitis caused by scleroderma.  I had a CT which confirmed pulmonary fibrosis and was put on mycophenolate mofetil, an immune suppressant drug.  My breathing tests indicated stability as far as the fibrosis goes until a few months back when it was suspected that pulmonary hypertension was developing.  A heart catheterization confirmed that I had mild pulmonary fibrosis and I am now seeing a cardiologist who has prescribed sildenafil to bring the pressure in my pulmonary artery down.  I also found a chiropractor in Columbus who has been doing the laser therapy suggested by Dr. Andrew Hall which I found out about by reading this blog!

Best advice for PF symptom management

Try to relax and stay positive is the best advice I can give.  Of course you should follow your doctor’s regimen, but don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask about alternative forms of treatment.  It helps to participate in a forum such as this to find out how others with similar conditions are doing, too!

Are you currently taking an anti-fibrotic medication?

yes
