I have just recently returned to Canada from the UK. My younger brother has been diagnosed with IPF and I am anxious to learn all that I can so that I am able to be of help to him as he deals with his illness. I have been reading all that I can and in doing so I have been seeing many of the symptoms of IPF in myself such as chronic fatigue, muscle weakness and aching, shortness of breath if walking more than a saunter, persistent cough, swelling of the nail joint in three fingers. I also have Interstitial Cystitis, GERD and have been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia and chronic sinus congestion/ inflammation. I have mild sleep apnea and my brother has severe sleep apnea. I have been wondering if I should be concerned about the possibility of IPF in myself. None of my symptoms are nearly as severe as my brother’s. He is 68. I am 73. I am here in hopes of using this site to learn as much as possible to help care for my brother and possibly to learn more as to whether I have a problem of my own in this area.
