Just had a CT scan. The fibrosis is still mild with not much changed from 18 months ago . however they found suspected lung cancer. They want to do a bronchoscopy at the same time they said that I was too old for any treatment. pulmonologist said that I wouldn’t die of lung cancer but more likely of COPD. Of course the question is now why should…[Read more]

I moved from an inland town to a small unpolluted beach. my house is only about 250 yards from the beach. When is a seabreeze I go down to the beach and inhale the salty air.
after moving to the beach a lot of my respiratory problems improved. I would think that if the wind is coming from the sea and you breathe it you must be getting salt in…[Read more]

I have just seen the movie “When breath becomes air. “I found it very interesting and somewhat astounding that the diver lives so long with virtually no air. I, unfortunately, lost three of my divers over 15 year period. So I could relate very well to the story. Some similar ones are in my book “Freediving to fame and fortune”. Available…[Read more]

At the age of nine , I developed very severe asthma. It was in 1940 during the last war. There was no cure of any kind. Bronchodilators were unheard of. Every night I held onto the bedstead trying to force air into my lungs until I passed out with exhaustion. I couldn’t play games. I couldn’t go to school, I was very weak and thin and at the age…[Read more]

Why don’t you buy from India online. It’s made by the same people Boehinger under the generic name pirfenidone. They send it by EMS for $20 and you should get it within a week. I don’t think there’s any problem in importing medicine for your own use and many in the US use Canadian online pharmacies, which simply source all their supplies from,…[Read more]

At last I have managed to obtain an appointment with a pulmonologist this coming Thursday. The hospital she works is two hours away and I have found someone to drive me there and back.
At least I will know about the fibrosis stage and if I should take the pirfenidone or not.
I am hoping it’s the latter because the thought of taking another nine…[Read more] -

I tried to follow everything about IPF and the Internet and read all the news. Unable to see a pulmonologist where I live, I sent my high-resolution CT chest scan to an online pulmonologist in India. He confirmed I have indications of the beginning of early stage fibrosis. This confirms the technician’s description of mild fibrosis. He highly…[Read more]

Hello Tony and welcome to the forum, you are very lucky to be able to purchase Esbriet for that price. My suggestion would be wait and meet with your pulmonologist before you start the meds. I was on OFEV which is similar to Esbriet in that both drugs may stop the progression of the disease. My disease was more advanced when I was prescribed.

A routine x-ray indicating possible interstitial lung disease. So I had a high resolution CT scan.
The scan was examined by a technician from whom I received a report. However, I think I need to seek a pulmonologist who is familiar with rare lung disease, but there are none around where I live in Thailand. I’m too old to go to, Bangkok, whic…[Read more]

I have just become a new member. I hope I can help other members and also I can get help for myself at the same time.
