Short Bio | I have 4 grown up daughters and 4 grandchildren , 2 boys,2 girls. Trained as a Staff Nurse in Belfast and finally ended up as a Health Visitor. After spinal surgery was offered early retirement so I returned to study at University attaining a degree in Social Science with History my main subject. Also studied Irish Migration and the Diaspora. However I decided on a job as support worker with adults with learning disability. To my surprise I absolutely loved it! However the sting in the tail is I noticed I was becoming breathless just going about my work. Went to gp who took me seriously and referred me for further investigation. IPF was final diagnosis about 6 yrs ago.I was able to live a full life with exercise , swimming ,Pilates and tai chi. Plus my history reading and research kept me busy. Then covid struck and all my exercise classes were cancelled and I’m ashamed to say I did so little except daily dog walks.I am now on supplemental oxygen and a recent scan has shown ‘ severe fibrosis’. That is status quo. |

Best advice for PF symptom management | Other than just trying to keep as mobile as poss. Go to rehab classes when availabile. For the first time in my life I’m beginning to learn to be kind to myself. |
