Short Bio

I started having symptoms in 2012, and was diagnosed May 8, 2017.  I went to a CoE, UPMC, for a second opinion and it was confirmed.  I took OFEV for six months, but had to stop due to severe side effects.  Esbriet lasted three months.  On 2 LPM sleeping.  PFT on 08/26/10 showed a very slight decrease, chest X-ray showed a very slight increase of IPF,  Walking Oxygen Test showed no need for O2 while active.

We, my family and I, decided quality of life is better than quantity of life.  I’m, now, doing what I can while feeling as good as I can.

I served 20 years in the Navy, with many years onboard ships built during the 1940s, complete with asbestos and other dangerous inhalants,  but it seems that has nothing to do with the disease . . . thus, idiopathic.
