I was diagnosed in December 2022 while being hospitalized for appenicitis and peritonitis. My blood oxygen was in the 80’s and they took an x-ray and that is when I was diagnosed. I was told that it showed up on an x-ray I had taken in March 2019 but I was never told about it. My doctor tells me that I have severe scarring. I feel fine. I’m very active and even swam laps 3 days a week before being diagnosed.

My life hasn’t changed much since being diagnosed. I’m still very active. I go to pulmonary rehab at the hospital twice a week but on the other days I go to my gym and exercise for 1 hour. I walk, do yoga and line dancing. My doctor tells me I have severe scarring but don’t have any symptoms. So, stay as active and engaged as you can. I also use the spirometer every day to exercise my lungs.
