The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF) recently announced that registration for PFF Summit 2015: From Bench to Bedside is now open. This is an international conference focused on pulmonary fibrosis (PF), a deadly disease that results from lung scarring. The Summit will address medical education for healthcare professionals, conduct sessions dedicated to those that live with the disease and their caregivers, and hold plenary sessions to bring together all attendees in a collaborative learning environment.

“The Foundation is honored to once again offer this exceptional opportunity for the pulmonary fibrosis community. The presentations will review the latest research and discuss important clinical and therapeutic issues. We developed this unique conference in order that health care providers can share best practices so that they may improve patient care, provide a forum in which attendees can engage in meaningful dialogue, and create an environment which will serve as a catalyst for further research and better treatments,” explained Daniel Rose, Chief Executive Officer at PFF.

The PFF Summit 2015 aims at improving the community’s understanding of PF and at identifying novel approaches to treat the condition, hoping that a cure will be possible in the near future. A 2-day medical education program for researchers, physicians, registered nurses and other health professionals that focuses on clinical care of the PF disease will be held, while a separate 2-day program will also be offered to patients, caregivers and family members to give PF patients new tools to help manage the disease. Plenary sessions will bring together patients, healthcare professionals and caregivers to discuss relevant issues.

Over 50 sessions will be presented covering topics such as:

  • Genetic and molecular biomarkers

  • Clinical trials
  • Novel strategies to treat PF
  • Priorities in PF research
  • Oxygen therapy and rehabilitation
  • Characteristics of advanced disease
  • Patient and caregiver relationship

The PFF Summit 2015 will be held at the JW Marriott in Washington, D.C. on November 12 to 14 and will be presented by the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. For more information, visit www.pffsummit.org.

“This is the third PFF Summit since 2011, and I’m not aware of another event that so successfully joins all the stakeholders to promote the science and clinical care of patients with pulmonary fibrosis. Customized breakout sessions intermixed with conference-wide plenary sessions will set the stage for audience participation and interaction among all attendees,” said Harold R. Collard, Chairman Organizing Committee.
