The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF) has opened a new registration cycle for medical centers that wish to join the Foundation’s Care Center Network, with the mission of improving the healthcare quality for people with pulmonary fibrosis (PF).

The PFF started the Care Center Network together with the PF medical community with the goal of offering better care and support to people with PF, and ultimately improving their quality of life. The network has been active since 2013, and consists today of 60 participating medical centers in the U.S., all specialized in diagnosing and treating PF.

Apart from improving the clinical practices related to PF, the collaboration between the medical centers and PFF seeks to engage local PF communities through education and research activities.

Centers that wish to become an official PFF Care Center Network site need to fulfill specific criteria to be eligible. The requirements include having personnel with relevant expertise (namely pulmonary medicine, rheumatology, radiology, and pathology), an easy and fast appointment routine, access to clinical research, and available local support groups. A complete list of the eligibility requirements can be found on the PFF website.

“Pulmonary fibrosis is a complex and life-threatening disease that requires a team of specialists to treat,” Pauline Bianchi, vice president of research and development for the PFF, said in a press release.

“Our goal is to expand the Care Center Network so that more individuals living with pulmonary fibrosis will receive expert care and support,” Bianchi added.

Medical centers are invited to apply online on the PFF website to become an official Care Center Network site. Registration is open until April 26, 2019 (at 5 p.m. EST).

The network is supported and funded by contributions from corporations, foundations, and individuals.

PFF Care Centers embrace a multidisciplinary approach to provide the most comprehensive and individualized patient care. For more information about these centers, and to find their locations, please visit this link.
