Pulmonary fibrosis is a heart and lung condition that causes the thickening of the walls of the alveoli, scarring the alveoli and lung tissue. Because of this thickening and scarring, the amount of oxygen that can pass into the blood vessels is reduced causing PF patients to experience shortness of breath.
