Has anyone tried halotherapy along with Ofev? I was diagnosed with IPF in December of 2020 and started taking Ofev I believe in February 2021. Later in May I started going to a local chiropractor that has a “salt room” for halotherapy treatment. I routinely go three times a week for 45 minute treatments. I had a pulmonary function test a couple of months ago and the test results indicated I was stable. It’s been almost four years now and there has been no significant change in the lung fibrosis from the time I was diagnosed with IPF. I am uncertain if the reason I am stable is the 150mg Ofev (2 x per day) prescription, or the halotherapy, or the combination thereof. I am wondering whether if anyone has had a similar experience? Your comments would be appreciated. Thank you, Samuel Duran.

I would say if your fibrosis hasn’t grown I would continue with halotherapy as OFEV can only slow it down. Who knows what works??

    Samuel,

I use salt therapy 2X a Day. Morning and evening with a nebulizer 7% salt solution. Either with a Aerobika or Volara device. Cleans my lungs out and improves my O2 percentage. I think it has been a big help. My FVC has gone from 90% of expected to 107% of expected over the last 2 years. My PF scaring, 10%. Has not gotten worse since June of 2022. I also walk daily 1.5 to 5 miles and do Pilates 2X a week. I take Retuxan infusions, not Ofev. My PF is apparently caused by Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Salt therapy has been a big deal historically. Eastern European salt mine workers largely survived the plagues in the Middle Ages. And abandoned salt mines were converted to hospices and hospitals for people with lung problems. Google it. Still is a big deal, German Lung Doctors have clinics in the resorts on the Dead Sea.

I hope this is helpful. Glad to share more of your interested.
