Headaches are a common ailment that many folks have to deal with, regardless of whether or not they live with a rare disease. Even before my diagnosis of IPF in April 2016, I dealt with headaches from time to time. However, they seem to be getting increasingly worse as my disease progresses. I’m currently trying to track my headaches over a period of about six weeks to see if this reveals any pattern to their frequency and intensity. It’s easy to assume my headaches are due to decreased oxygen levels, but I don’t know if that is truly the case.

Since I already take a myriad of medications, I’d prefer not to be taking pain medications for these headaches on the regular either. Instead, I’m trying to treat them with more natural remedies like ensuring I’m hydrated enough, putting ice over my eyes, and peppermint oil on my temples. I will take medications for headaches as needed, but when I can try something else I will.

Two questions for our forums community:

    1) As your PF progressed, did you deal with headaches more frequently?

    2) Do you have any natural tips or remedies to alleviate the pain from those headaches?

    Thanks in advance,
    Char.
