30 Days of PF: Our Group Support for a Friend
This is Barbara Schmitz’s story: her husband Greg was classmates with Kevin Olson (one of our mighty columnists!) in the 1970s at the U.S. Military Academy. Since October 2016, Barbara and Greg have been part of Kevin’s support system.
In 2018 along with another classmate, Paul, and his wife, Linda, they formed the “West Point Travel Group” and when they are not travelling, they stay in touch via text messages and long Zoom calls. This group became an essential part of Kevin’s post-transplant recovery. When Kevin was ready for visitors, the West Point Travel Group took a road trip to St. Louis to see him. In October, they are hoping to meet at West Point to celebrate Kevin, Greg, and Paul’s 45th reunion.
