I have been on Esbriet since May 2024. I initially thought I would not experience the rash with sun exposure. I was wrong and had a serious rash on my arms, legs, ankles and back of my neck. When I first noticed it, I had an annual skin check with my dermatologist. She renewed my prescription for Kenalog creme to use on the rash. I was faithful using it twice a day for at least two weeks. My pulmonologist suggested I use it with a skin creme like Aveeno and apply it after taking a shower in the evening. I have purchased long sleeved shirts with SPF-50 protection and also some fingerless gloves. I wear a large brimmed hat when outdoors and sunscreen. I have limited outdoor sun exposure but still have issues with the itchy rash but have managed to keep it somewhat under control. I was told by a friend who’s husband had pulmonary fibrosis that sun coming through the windshield or windows of your car is also exposure where you must protect your skin.
