Primary Care Physicians Should be Aware of IPF Symptoms
I came across a research publication I feel would be beneficial for our forum members. I am familiar with two of the authors: Dr. Leslie Tolle and Dr. Brian Southern. Dr. Tolle is the physician who diagnosed me with IPF and I have listened to Dr. Southern speak on several occasions. Both of these physicians are Cleveland Clinic doctors with an extensive and impressive resume in their discipline of pulmonology. The Cleveland Clinic Respiratory Institute is a Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation Care Center.
The article is titled “Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis: What primary care physicians need to know.” I had to use a dictionary to define some of the medical vocabulary used but overall the article is readable for lay people. I have always felt there was a lack of understanding by primary care physicians when identifying a specific interstitial lung disease resulting in the delayed or misdiagnosis of IPF. The article provides a concise text of identifying and treating IPF.
Please read the article and ask questions or comment on the content.
