The Feldman Family Foundation is hosting a pulmonary fibrosis fund-raising event — its 6th Annual Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament and Casino Night — on Saturday (March 2), at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling, Illinois.

The Feldman Family Foundation was founded in 2013 in honor of Irv Feldman, who was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2005. He bravely fought for eight years before succumbing to his illness. Irv Feldman’s sons Mitch and Laury Feldman started the foundation to support pulmonary fibrosis research and education, and raise awareness. Their goal is to improve the quality of life of patients and families affected by this condition.

The Feldmans host poker nights to raise awareness and funds for pulmonary fibrosis, because it is their favorite hobby and has supported them through tough times.

According to the Feldman family, Irv was an enthusiastic poker player, “he loved the competition and he loved to bring our family together for a “friendly” game of Texas Hold’ Em poker. Playing poker was a way for our family to come together and help Dad get through the toughest of times…in honor and in memory of our Dad, it is with great respect and love that our family has established the “Annual Irv Feldman Texas Hold’ Em Tournament.”

This year, participants in the charitable poker tournament and casino games will have the opportunity to win more than $30,000 in prizes. The event also will include a premium sponsored open bar and buffet dinner.

According to a press release, the grand prize for the poker tournament is a $10,000 seat at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Feldman Family Foundation has partnered with the American College of Chest Physicians’ CHEST Foundation, and the Northwestern Memorial Foundation to host this year’s poker event. Other sponsors of the event include Select Rehabilitation, The Ritz-Carlton Chicago, and Gurtz Family Foundation, among others.

The costs for the event are $150 for player tickets, and $100 for those who would like to attend the event without playing. For additional information and to purchase tickets, contact Angela Perillo at [email protected]. Tickets also are available online.

So far, the Feldman Family Foundation, in collaboration with other leading organizations, has contributed more than $600,000 toward the fight against pulmonary fibrosis.
