In this TedEd video shared in November 2014, watch Emma Bryce’s informative lesson about how our lungs work.

Want to know more about lungs? Read 8 cool facts here.

Breathing occurs 15-25 times a minute and the average person will inhale 10,000 liters of air each day. Sound simple? It isn’t. The actual act of breathing is incredibly complex and requires the brain, lungs, heart and diaphragm to work in harmony with each other in order to deliver oxygen-rich blood to the entire body.

All of this happens without most of us even thinking about it unless we suffer from a lung disease that makes  breathing difficult, like pulmonary fibrosis.

Pulmonary rehab helps patients breathe better while learning about pulmonary diseases and how to live with them. Find out more here.
