Welcome Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month!
September tends to bring a lot of emotions for me as a patient living with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Mostly because September is PF Awareness Month, but also because it typically signifies the end of summer, which is by far my favorite season.
I write about PF Awareness month every September because there’s so much work to be done to help others understand more about this disease. I have countless conversations every year about IPF and how none of my family or friends had heard of it before I was diagnosed, yet this disease is so debilitating, prevalent, and life-threatening.
While I take on the responsibility of raising awareness for this disease proudly, especially in the memory of all those that have died from this disease, it is also an exhausting task because progress to treat or cure PF is very slow.
