Laughing on this journey
I have found times during this journey when laughing was most appropriate. When I was undergoing pre-transplant evaluations the battery of tests seemed daunting.
One of the evaluation tests is pH manometry, which consists of a small tube inserted through your nose and into the esophagus. This is a 24-hour test where you will also wear/carry a device to record the levels detected by the probe.
How is laughing appropriate considering this test? The pH manometry test was conducted in the pediatric unit at the care center where I underwent evaluation. I arrived for my appointment to discover that as a 5’10” male I was the tallest, the oldest, and the most uncomfortable patient in the pediatric waiting room. All of the furniture was kindergarten-size. I had to laugh.
Have you found a reason to laugh on your journey? I would love to hear about it.
