Terril McBride has IPF, like her father, and her two brothers. She was diagnosed in 2015. After her diagnosis, she got on Esbriet and started pulmonary rehab. Her symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, and sometimes she needs to be on oxygen.

She noticed how she felt better on the days she went to rehab. That’s when she began swimming laps on her off days.

One year later, she swam in qualifying swim meets. In 2017, in the National Senior Games, she finished second in the 50-yard butterfly, and 6th in 50-yard freestyle. She’s continued to swim and has qualified for the 2021 National Senior Games, to be held in May 2022.

    Terril, you are amazing!
How do your symptoms affect your life? Are you able to do any sport activities?
Terril’s story is on our Instagram! Go check it out and do give us a follow so you don’t miss out on any #30DaysofPF stories. Not all of us are able to swim, but we are trying our best, one day at a time 🙂
