Long Non-Coding RNAs are responsible for proliferation and inflammation in lung fibroblasts’, according to a recent study. Receiving an accurate diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is often complicated and complex, partially because the exact cause of origin for this disease is still widely unknown. However, many physicians see a benefit to further understanding the role that Long Non-Coding RNA’s have in the development of lung fibroblasts; a primary cause of fibrosis in a number of pulmonary diseases. Physicians continue to work hard at further understanding Long Non-Coding RNAs, and research is thoroughly examining the role of these molecules and how they contribute to lung fibroblast development.

In our most recent flash briefing this is discussed in greater detail, which you can listen to HERE.

As a patient living with IPF/PF, do you have inflammatory “flare-ups” causing an increase of your pulmonary symptoms?

If so, how often and are these triggered by anything specifically?
