  • OPEP device – is it safe / effective for IPF patient?

My 86 yr old husband was recently diagnosed with IPF.  His identical twin died of IPF 3 years ago.  We are doing lots of research and investigating possible avenues to slow progress of IPF.  He has a prescription for OFEV, but has not yet started – we are in process of changing physicians.

A friend gave me a device that he thought might be helpful for my husband.  However, I hesitate to start on anything before knowing if it might be beneficial or detrimental. And right now we’re transitioning doctors, so I hope someone here might share some insights.

The box calls it, “Lung expansion and mucus relief device;  Trusted Scientific OPEP”.

Thank you for any feedback on this.  And this forum is providing valuable insights to IPF experiences of others.
